Christmas is Here!!

Ok, well not yet...but only two more wake-ups! These past couple of weeks have completely flown by. I feel like we barely just got finished with the wedding and Thanksgiving! On that note, I am now a one month old newlywed!! We have officially had our first fight as a newlywed...and I must admit, it was due to me being an emotional girl. Go figure. Anyway, this Christmas week has been fabulous. Last Friday night, my BFF Lewis came to visit us!! We havent seen him since the wedding, so it was so nice to be able to spend some time with him. I made enchiladas which were absolutely AMAZING. Seriously, the beset homemade enchiladas I have ever had, and that is considering that I am normally biased towards my Mom's enchiladas.

After dinner, we went out with my love Kim, and her friend David, to Rebels Honkytonk. Yes I know, the name is extrememly annoying...but its a lot of fun! Saturday, we cleaned the apartment and relaxed around the house. Sunday, we finished ALL of our Christmas shopping. We woke up with the dertermination to SHOP. Oh, and on a side note...I wrapped all of the presents Sunday night by myself. Adam doesnt get any credit for the wrapping...just FYI. Ok, on another side note, as some of you know...Benny the baby dog has a staph infection. As a part of his medical routine, we have to bathe him in special medicated shampoo every 3 days. Well, by his second bath, Benny had already had enough. After bathing him in the shampoo, we have to let him soak for 10 minutes. The picture below is of Benny soaking in the tub, while crying and giving me evil looks.

After this bath, Benny turned into crazy evil child. He was very sweet while he was being cuddled in the towel, but after that....he ran into the guest bedroom, jumped on the couch, and PEED on it. Yes, he peed on it...all the while he was glaring at me. I started at him in shock that he was actually peeing on the cushion right in front of me! He then made his way into the living room where he stopped by the Christmas tree, and ripped off an ornament. He ripped a glass ornament off the tree and threw it on the ground!!! It was hard for me not to laugh at his behavior, so Adam did the punishing. It is still kind of funny to me.

Anyway, thats my funny story for the week! We are leaving tonight for Conroe, and will have Christmas Eve with my family tomorrow night. We are having Christmas with Adam's Mom which we are both really excited about. We have never spent Christmas day with her, so we are looking forward to starting a new tradition. Oh, and we leave for our honeymoon on Sunday!!! This time next week we will be in Jamaica!!! Ahh we cant wait. For now, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! I love you all, and am very thankful for all of your love and friendship you have provided this year. See you in 2010!!

It was a SUCCESS!!!!!

I officially made my first successful dinner as a wife!! I'm not saying that it's a wife's job to cook, but I do like to feel like I'm doing something nice for my husband. OK first things first, weekend recap:

Friday - Adam had Toys for Tots, I went to a Kortnee's house to watch Christmas movies
Saturday - Benny got a staph infection, lunch, Kortnee's, Toys for Tots
Sunday - IHOP for breakfast!!! gym, grocery store, got to see my Joey!, Adam studied, I made dinner!!

Our new favorite thing is to eat breakfast at IHOP on Sundays. Although we have only done this the past two Sundays, I am still going to classify this as our new favorite thing.

OK, so my first meal I decided to make this week was......................................................................................
CHICKEN SPAGHETTI!!!!!

I sat down and organized my grocery list before I got to the store, so I was able to get all of my ingredients that I need for this week's dinners.

I was so proud of myself because I used our grown up knives, and I did not cut myself! I also used our new chopping board that Mrs. B got us!!

This was the finished product after everything was mixed together. Please excuse the picture quality. Our camera got stolen, along with everything in my purse.

Yummyy!! Adam even ate it...he hates onions and veggies!

Afterwards, we put ingredients into the crock pot for our dinner which we will be having tonight! It is a surprise until I figure out how successful we were. I will be featuring it on the blog tomorrow though.

After dinner, we decided to eat some of our wedding cake. It has been sitting in our fridge for the past 3 weeks, and we decided something needed to be done with it. I know you're supposed to save the top of the cake until your one year anniversary...oh well, just means we will have to buy more cake!

So Pretty! I was sad to see it go!

We both took a couple bites of the cake and made a wish. I'm not sure if you're supposed to make a wish...just seemed like the right thing to do.

I hope everyone has a good Monday! At least it's almost Friday:)

Happy Friday..on a serious note

This picture has been provided by the fabulous Mr. Ben

I cannot believe Friday is FINALLY here! This week has seemed to last forever. Here is our week in review:

Sunday - Had a late night McDonalds chicken nugget dinner..comfort food
Monday - heard GREAT news for my Dad, ate mission burrito and drank a beer in celebration
Tuesday - sliced open my finger trying to cut bread..Adam bandaged me up and was a very good husband
Wednesday - tried to make our first crock pot meal and it failed miserably. We ate Papa Johns instead.
Thursday - Both of us ate for $3.58 at Subway!

This weekend Adam has Toys for Tots with the Marines. I'm hoping to get my Christmas shopping finished up...we always wait until the last minute!

I know it is not Thanksgiving anymore, but sometimes its nice to think about the things you are thankful for. I have been keeping up with one blog in particular, and I recommend you reading this. Be warned, it is a very sad story, but has many positive outlooks throughout. Every time I read one of the posts, it reminds me that I have a lot to be thankful for in my life. Although things are not always ideal or perfect, you can always find a positive in some way. The blog  The Sullivans , is about a young man who just welcomed his baby girl into the world, and lost his wife a couple weeks later. The posts start in 2008, and I recommend you reading from the beginning. This story goes to show that you never know what can happen in life, and you should make the best out of each day.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Domestic Godess

I think I'm pretty much in love with the Pioneer Woman blog! I just spent the past hour deciding what our menu for next week is going to be. She does step by step pictures of what she is cooking to make it easy for beginners domestically challenged wives  like me! Anyway, take a look at her website, its great. My menu next week is chicken spaghetti, enchiladas, and stir fry. I also have two crock pot meals mixed in there too. Enjoy!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I have wanted a fall wedding for as long as I can remember. I just love the feeling of fall! I love the smells, the clothes, the holidays, time spent with family, the food, football games, festivals...seriously EVERYTHING. Even though I don't even like football, I still love the sound of it. It has some weird type of comforting feeling to me. When I was homesick in college, I used to put on the Rockets game in the background while I studied because the sound comforted me and reminded me of home. Anyway, I am just so in love with fall right now. Today, I am wearing tights, dress, & sweater, and it has made me in such a good mood! Yesterday during lunch, Kortnee and I went to Garden Ridge to look at decorations. Just being in Garden Ridge for an hour completely made both of our days. We picked up a smoothie for lunch, and walked around the Christmas department. Here are a couple of pictures to brighten your day!

Have a happy Thursday!!!

Wishful Wednesday....chores

I wish.......I never had to clean the bathroom ever again.

I love to clean. Ok, maybe not clean, but "clean". I like the way a freshly vaccumed room looks, I love the smell of room spray, and I like lighting candles once the room is "clean". Seriously though, i absolutely HATE cleaning the bathroom. I don't mind the sinks, it's the toilet and tub that I dread. Our tub has been cleaned ONCE since we moved in...and we moved in late August. Please, no judging. Hair makes me gag, and so does water that sits on the side of the tub. When I lived alone, I used to clean my bathroom once a week. Its just the idea of seeing someone else's hair that makes me want to puke. Maybe I need to make some type of deal with Adam. I will do laundry one time every time, if he cleans the bathroom (toilet & tub) once a week. I think that's a fair deal.

On another note, bootcamp is tonight!! Adam has been instructing a bootcamp type exercise class for the past couple of months. I have just now started to regulary attend, and I love it! He does such a good job, and I like watching him teach other people. He is very good at explaining things and motivating his class. Let me know if any of you ever want to come to a class with me! I promise you will be verrrry sore the next day.

Ok...good things for today!
1. It's Veterans Day!!

Please remember to thank a Veteran today. It is their service which has made our country what it is today. THANK YOU!

#2 I am having spinach and mushroom pizza for lunch today!

This is the best lean cuisine meal EVER. I crave pizza all the time and this is a great replacement to my favorite Papa Johns dipped in their garlic butter sauce.

#3 Glee comes back tonight!

In my opinion, this is the best TV show on right now. It is a very fun spirited, upbeat, happy show...even Adam loves it! We have missed it the past couple of weeks (stupid world series)...and it returns tonight!!!

Wishful Wednesdays....

Do you ever have those weeks, months, days where you just want to get away? I could really use a mini vacation right about now (yes...I know I'm going on my honeymoon...I said MINI). If I had one wish today...it would be for Adam and I to be in Wimberly for the rest of the week. This is my "happy place" (besides target), and I would love to be there right now.

Isnt it wonderful? The picture in the middle is Cypress Creek Cafe...best pancakes in the world. Maybe my boss will let me go if I ask sweetly :)

GOOD THINGS FOR TODAY

1.) Big Bird is on google today and it made me really happy

2.) Adam and I are eating Mission Burrito tonight and its our favorite. They have a special for $5 on Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday. We ate this on Sunday, so we had to wait until today to go back. We get the burrito bowl with chicken, beef, rice, beans, veggies, chipotle ranch, cheese, & tortilla strips. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

#3.) Adam got a 99.8% on his Statistics class!!!!!!!!!! I'm so so proud of him :)

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday! Only 4 more days left of the work week! Important things first...Adam and I are now proud owners of a Marriage License! We went to the court house today and are now legally able to get married! It felt weird seeing Mr. & Mrs. Adam Wade Lanier at the bottom of the page....Adam likes to point out that it has HIS name on it, and not mine :) Ok. so for the weekend recap with pictures!

We had such a good weekend!! Friday night, we attended a costume party at a friend's house. I was an 80's girl...and Adam was a barber :) He is so cute and creative.

Saturday, we went to the Wings Over Houston Air show. It was probably one of the cooles things I have ever seen. The Blue Angels flew at the very end and it was sooooo so amazing. Adam refused to take pictures with the pilots, he is too cool for that.

Saturday night we spent time at Kortnee's house, had a BBQ in the front yard and handed out candy to trick or treaters! Since when do kids trick-or-treat by riding down the street in a car??? When we were little, we used to walk down the streets in neighborhood and trikc or treat, not ride around in cars from house to house...how lazy!

Sunday we spent the day being lazy. Even with an extra hour of sleep (daylight savings), we both felt so lethargic all day. All in all, we had a very busy, but very good weekend.

Cheers to Monday being over, and to less than 3 weeks till the wedding!

Quote of the Week

"In any compromise between food and poison, it is only death that

can win. In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can
profit." Ayn Rand

Thanks to my Daddy for this quote. He actually sent it to me last week, but I love re-reading everything he sends. I look forward to them every week!

I'm Hooked

For the ladies..I am officially addicted to this product. One of my friends recommended it, and I have been in love ever since. It is only $6 at Sephora, and it comes in a couple of other flavors. The Salve "lip balm" is my favorite. You can use it on your lips, hair, cheeks...anywhere! It doesnt feel sticky or waxy after you put it on either. I'm wearing it today as my blush! Seriously, you have to try it.

For the men...I asked Adam what his favorite product was, and he really didnt understand the question. I rephrased it as, "what is one product you could never live without"? He told me aftershave...how BORING is that. Soooo...I'm going to make one up for him. I know if he had THOUGHT about it, he would have said his Axe body wash scrubby.

He was seriously so excited when he got this, and he still talks about it. The AXE scrubby is BOTH manly and efficient! It has a soft side, for your body, and a manly rough side for your feet. Apparently, some of the Marines had these when Adam went to California for training this year, and he came home wanting one..just like a little kid. For real though, I was jealous of his scrubby so he bought me a man one as well!

Quote of the Week

My Daddy sends Leslie and I quotes every week, and I really liked today's quote..so I am going to share.

"To say 'I love you' one must know first how to say the 'I.'" - Ayn Rand

Thanks Dad, I love you.

Also, a very happy & belated birthday to Chandra & Lewis!
